This is not a haunted house. This is an upscale, Halloween-themed, 21-and-older, costume-mandatory party produced by Central Coast LIVE! Due to the explosive success of our first event, we are moving the costume ball to the California Mid-State Fairgroundss located at 2198 Riverside in Paso Robles, California. Some patrons make their costumes themselves, some have them made, and others mix and match elements to craft something unique; creativity is the key. There will be a reservation table near the front entrance. Sign in at the table and our staff will take a photograph of you in your costume. There are five categories including Scariest, Funniest, Sexiest, Most Original and Best Couple.
Five judges [one per each category] will peruse the photos and select their top five contestants. During the evening, each judge will locate and notify the top five contestants in their respective category that they’ve been chosen to compete on stage. If you enter the competition, you must be available to come on stage for judging when your name is called. Once on stage, the final winners of each category will be selected by costume ball attendees. The noise from applause and cheers of the audience will be measured in decibles by a digital “Applause-O-Meter” that will be displayed in real time on stage.
Yes! Anyone can compete both Friday and Saturday nights and you can compete with the same costume or compete in two distinct costumes each night. Contestants can also enter multiple categories. As an example, an attendee may compete in the “Scariest” category and then also compete in “Most Original” or “Best Couple” categories. This goes for both nights as well. All this is contingent on the judges staffing the sign in table agreeing that a costume fits into particular categories.
